Company History

Higher Ground Log Furnishings was started by Dean & Donna Cole in 1994. What began as a hobby turned into a part -time business between 1994 -1998. We enjoyed selling our furniture through farmers markets, trade shows and roadside displays. As we continued to build and refine our work we made the decision to go from part-time to full-time business. We did not have a heated facility to work year-round in, so we began looking for a location. In November of 1998 we opened a shop and showroom on Calgary Trail South, Edmonton, Alberta. This was an excellent experience for us. We met and served many special people. Our skills and craftsmanship continued to increase and be refined with much enjoyment. May 1, 2000 our business is growing again. We are now located near Thorsby, Alberta on Strawberry Creek 68 KM southwest of Edmonton. The new shop is a 3600 sq.’ production facility. Today we have over 40 log products that we produce as well as custom manufacturing of log accents and railings. We look forward to serving our former and new customers from our new home and shop.
