Our logs are dead standing Lodge Pole pine, harvested in the foothills of western Alberta. This wood offers character, color and has dried naturally, sometimes with all the beetle and woodpecker holes visible.
It’s a great way to harvest material, spending time looking for unique logs and trying to stay in shape packing logs back to the truck. There is some help to the enviorment in cleaning up possible fuel wood and giving healthy trees room to grow.
These logs are brought home and peeled, preserving the natural shape and markings. At times the nieghborhood High School kids help out with this step.
Each log is selected and crafted using the natural character to make one of a kind pieces. I once found a bullet lodged in a piece of wood and left it there, knowing that the owner was a avid hunter and would appreciate the detail.
Indoor furniture is finished with 3 coats of a clear lacquer, bringing out the color and character of the wood. As an option we can also stain your furniture to a color of your choosing. Outdoor furniture and railing gets three coats of an excellant penetrating finish, leaving you with a bright cedar tone.
